Ocean Rainforest Launches Two Biostimulant Products in California
Sustainable Seaweed-Based Biostimulant Now Certified for Organic Use
Santa Barbara, California — August 22, 2025
Ocean Rainforest proudly announces the launch of SEAWEED and KELPSHIELD, seaweed-based biostimulants now registered by the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) and OMRI Listed for use in certified organic farming under the USDA National Organic Program (NOP).
SEAWEED is produced from local Giant Kelp (Macrocystis pyrifera) sourced in Southern and Baja California. Formulated to support soil conditions, nutrient availability, and resilience to abiotic stress, it offers growers a valuable solution to enhance soil health, reduce reliance on conventional inputs, and utilize a domestic seaweed product.
KELPSHIELD is a seaweed-based biostimulant produced from cultivated Sugar Kelp (Saccharina latissima). It supports environmental resilience for more consistent crop performance and may help plants maintain vigor during challenging growing conditions.
In collaboration with AlgaMar we have developed proprietary processing methods that preserve the key bioactive compounds in our biostimulants. These natural compounds, such as laminarin, fucoidan, and alginates, are recognized for their powerful and effective plant biostimulant properties, making them ideal options for reducing reliance on traditional fertilizers.

The California launch is the first step in Ocean Rainforest’s strategy to bring seaweed-based agricultural inputs to growers across North America. The company is actively expanding field trials and distribution partnerships with local agronomists, growers, and retailers.
