Ascophyllum nodosum, commonly known as rockweed or knotted wrack, is found mostly on sheltered sites on shores in the littoral zone, where it can become the dominant species. The seaweed is harvested from sustainable sources in Iceland. Ascophyllum nodosum has a high content of antioxidants and is consumed by humans and animals as a nutritional supplement. The extract can be used for agricultural purposeses.
